TA-KU - DIFFERENT SPACES
Matt Beaton on the artwork tip!
OUT NOW!!!
Press releases are always written by the big wigs to tell you how their product came together, so here at Paper Chain we just asked Reggie AKA Ta-ku to tell you a little about what he has been doing......
Different spaces has been a work in progress since 2006. With a 1.5 years archive of beats up my sleeve, I took to Myspace, the networking monster, to connect with singers, mc's vocalists and dj's from around the world. Reaching out as far as Brooklyn (U.S), Philidelphia(U.S), L.A (U.S), Atlanta (U.S), Toronto (Canada), Osaka (Jpn), Tokyo (Jpn), Gold Coast (Aus), Perth (Aus), Auckland (NZL) and Germany this collaborative effort was all done through the internet. The artist would choose from a ZIP file of beats and send the vocals back. It was that simple.
Every track tells a story. Each artist spills their words over the track telling the listener a little something about themselves, where there from, what they feel, what they are about. Even though each artist has a different background and are from 'different spaces' they all come together on this project with one thing in common....SOUL MUSIC.
Great to Be Here feat. Nobody - this is the first track i have ever collaborated with an artist on. Its basically an intro, welcoming myself to the scene but also welcoming everyone else to my sound. "Nobody" who reigns from L.A tells his story of being him, and representing his soul where ever he is around the world.
Do You feat. Jamal Steele - this track is all about being yourself. Be real with yourself. Don't front. Be You, Do You and ' let anyone tell you different. Jamal Steele speaks on not being pressured into the street life of his home town and doing his music the best way he knows, with SOUL.
I'm So Tired feat. Mei & Raymond - this track im really proud of. Raymond a MC and Mei a vocalist from my hometown jumped on this track with me. Bringing their soulful vocals to the track, we got together till the late hours of the night with a carton of beer and recorded it in Lindsay Spencers bedroom, a mate of mine. We're all tired of getting stuck into a routine of habit.
For the Love feat. Precise & DunnD - we do it for the love of music. The love of Hip Hop. The love of Soul Music. Precise from Chicago, U.S and Dunn D from Okinawa, Japan spill it plainly, they love music and do it for the love of it.
