Heuy Neutron.

Huey Neutron is the futuristic brainchild of DJ VEX and Bobby Blunt. It also serves as the  transformation of 33 ⅓ Dvision, the first name the duo dubbed themselves back in 2003.

“Almosthere” is their first offering since then and the sound has matured beyond measure. DJ Vex’s hard hitting yet sultry backdrops encourages Bobby Blunt to confidently blend genres as the duo teeters on something a little different. 

This three song opus is a prelude to their debut album that is yet to be named. For the listener, it offers a promising introduction to what could become classic material. Songs like “Love Is...” boasts a heavy boom bap feel mixed with a infectious synthesized melody guaranteed to nod heads, while songs like “Equilibrium” take a glimpse into the future of what soul music could be.

If the talk is progressive soul, then Huey Neutron will be one of the leaders of that class.  The music is a perfect blend of their many influences and the visions they create on their own.

 Bounce is the first collaboration release between producers Ta-ku & Kit Pop. The project has been a long time in the waiting because of time but we finally have this

out to kick off 2012. The single release contains remixes from The Blessings (LuckyMe), Dizz1 and bounce remix competition winners Thinnen and DNte. The release is available on all online stores and directly through the paper chain bandcamp page. The film clip is currently in post production and scheduled for an early february release, we'll keep you posted.

 This is the first product to come out of this collaboration and the guys have put forward there will be more material from them before the end of the year.

YES!!!! Big congrats to Raashan Ahmad! He is one of the most hard working MC's i have ever seen while always carrying that big smile and positvity everywhere he goes. Let hope we see our homie back on the Australian shores very soon. All his hard work is paying off and this is the first of many to come for this man. Check out another clip of his below.

 Welcome to the Smoke Cloud EP, the third official release from Paper Chain artist, Kit Pop. During this audible sequence you'll be granted audience to a full spectrum of the sounds that have become synonymous with the artist as he continues his solo journey, traversing and sourcing influence from the ripe, uninhabited soundscapes he so often explores. The marching drums and retracting synths of 'Midnight Kush' followed by the low voltage wobbles and intermittent echoes of 'Gaf Tank' will serve as catalysts to the proceedings, followed by the infectious, layered melodies and signature tempo shifts of 'If I Could Say'. The Smoke Cloud's mid-section takes a sinister turn with the grimey, unpredictable drum patterns and brooding chants of 'Walking Shadow' before launching the listener into the up-beat, cosmic landscapes of 'Primary'. As the smoke clears and the proceedings come to a close 'Nothing of Me' announces itself as a strong affirmation of Kit Pop's hip-hop influence, treating the listener to an array of rhythmic drips and wall-to-wall echoes all working in unison as the drums dance between half and double time, keeping the listener on their toes before the head-knocking, calculated relentlessness of the album's summation, 'Paradigm'.

Ihart | Art exhibition.

Illustrators, graphic designers, sneaker aficionados and skaters will come together at the Claremont Hotel on Friday, November 4, for the inaugural IHART exhibition.

A celebration of contemporary art and design raising funds for the Heart Foundation of Western Australia. Boasting custom skate board decks, sneakers and prints created by a slew of talented artists, on sale at affordable prices, all funds raised from art sales at IHART will support the vital work the Heart Foundation conducts. The concept stems from the personal experience of curator Dwight O’Neil, who suffers from an ongoing, rare heart condition. With two heart surgeries under his belt, the work of the Heart Foundation of Western Australia is incredibly important to Dwight,  so coming up with the idea for IHART was simple: use the skills he has acquired as a designer and with help from good friend Michael Prendiville create an art show which not only showcases Perth’s finest artists but gives the people the opportunity to purchase original art at an affordable price. 

IHART will see a collective of local and international artists dedicated to raising funds for the Heart Foundation through the display and creation of art on sneakers, prints and skate decks. This entirely not-for-profit event will have all funds donated to the Heart Foundation and see the inclusion of local and international artists all working towards the same great cause. Artists were given the opportunity to creatively transform a pair of fresh white Chuck Taylors generously donated by Converse using any means necessary. They were encouraged to create something unique to express their own personal creative style, using any media necessary to form their original piece. In addition to the hi-top sneakers the body of work will also include 30 one off original skateboard decks courtesy of folklore skateboards and 30 limited edition A2 prints. All artwork will be sold on the opening night in limited quantities. Door prizes and entertainment by local DJs will kick start the night, generous prizes will be awarded by sponsors to the best of each category and a ‘best of show’ will be announced. 

All money raised at this event will go towards helping The Heart Foundation of Western Australia which saves lives and improves health through funding world-class cardiovascular research, guidelines for health professionals, informing the public and assisting people with cardiovascular disease. While their tireless work over the past five decades has helped reduce the number of deaths, cardiovascular disease remains still one of Australia’s most devastating health problems.

Big ups to Dwight on this event! Please come down and show your support. Some Paper Chain artists will be lending their time and playing some tunes to support the cause.

Kit Pop. | MPD routine.

Kit Pop has been busy in the studio wrapping up things on his first EP out next month, working on music for a play company and also working on doing something live to support the EP when it drops.
